Energy Efficiency – In for the long haul

At the end of last year the news was full of the price hikes that the ‘big six’ were preparing to inflict on UK residents; with some proposing increases of as much as 9 per cent on top of what many consider to be already extortionate costs.  So in response to this, and as a supporter of improving the country’s energy efficiency, Profile 22 wants to raise awareness of a national campaign that aims to help people cut their fuel bills and get all the financial support that they are entitled to.  All this week, 27-31 January 2014, sees the return of the Big Energy Savings Week campaign led by the Citizens Advice Bureau.

While the Government tackles the spiralling costs of energy, campaign’s such as this help the consumer to manage their energy usage and spend.  This is also supported by The Energy Savings Trust– an online portal that gives free and impartial advice on how to save energy.

One way to improve the energy efficiency of your home and help to reduce the cost of your energy bills is to consider replacing your windows.  New high-performance double glazed PVC-U windows can help make a saving of up to 25 per cent on your annual heating bill.  Familiarise yourself with the Window Energy Rating scheme and make this part of your decision making when choosing your new windows.  You might also want to consider the option of triple-glazing which offers improved thermal and acoustic performance creating a warmer, quieter and secure home.

Remember, this is a long-term investment that can help create a warmer, more cost effective and energy efficient home.
